Familiar Ground

Heart rock MexicoThe earth belies its age and history

We allow seduction, to believe it is ours

That it is new, that it will be forever

We sink into complacency

Throw plastic into the land fill

Waste the bounty, step on the tiniest of plants and creatures

Casually disregard the history

The many souls that have forged our path

The cultures that made the sacrifice

And then there is the quieting moment

A truth, a reminder, a marker

Of the timeless sacred

Did you pause? Did you notice?

Did you breathe our shared air?

Did you know the timelessness of earth?

Did you feel the heavenly vibration?

Did you see the fire?

Did you hear the weeping?
