Learning from William Stafford

Remembering last night

A room of storied people

Who saw one another

Who looked into the eyes

Who breathed a collective chorused sigh

At the words that caught us off guard

Who hugged, nodded, knew

Smiled with the harmony of hearts

We seemed to say, “Who am I to even be here?”

While saying, “I am here! I have a voice!”

Each unique, sharing

Commonalities of human spirit

Boundaries between flesh bodies

Hardly noticed

Deep laughter, Zen-like exhales

Each word so intimate

Weaving, Exposing, Defining

Life stories in the collective whole

All of us becoming tenderly

Cautiously

Inside Out

Together Alone

And I cried, sitting next to my friend

Who in my darkest days

Sent me poems

“Because I couldn’t fix it,” she said

But she did.

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers
