Equinox Sun

posted in: Poems, Transitions | 6

The Sun,

Impressively warm on this Equinox morning

Even bold, some might say

Sure of herself, a powerful goddess

Unintimidated by the turn of the earth

Or the angle of her fiery rays

Or early evening shadows

Or the waning of the green in the grasses that fringe the pond.

Golden brown banners

Swaying, foretelling

Transitions, conversions, transformations

Unintimidated by death or life

My legs, partially wrapped in calf length leggings

Ready for the yoga mat

Despite, or because of my new hip,

Feel heat on my east facing

Thinning skin

Like my mother’s

Whose legs kept working until her last breath

And who never stopped noticing

Beauty.

Thanks Bev! And always nice to have your comments show up. My memoir is complete…. just looking for an agent… what a process. Of course, would love to see you. Hope you are doing well also!
